#Agemates.
*Remember today is World Friends Day*
When age mates meet time seems to stand still.
Who is this age mate that captures your attention time seems to stand still when you meet?
Embakasi,Enoch,Ezekiel,Twenya,Angola,Zembi,Lily and Adeta remain my age mates. For years we played "Tipi twach","banta",occasionally we did"Arani",sometimes we scrambled for "ochondo"when millets refused to ripen,we fetched water and swam in the innocent streams together.
Other times we played and fought in the mud during rainy seasons,we made "katunja" and we "goyod tworo" for that subject ACM!We went "moto"as a group and played hide and seek as a team ...
Oh my!We did play "katolo"and "sabina"too. In deed games were unisex! For real we "tugod usi" and relished doing so!
Of class work jealousy? It was so real.Number one was reserved for either Enoch or me,there was no other way! Many times we fought using "kudho" whenever one took the coveted number one."Aloro kodi" was a bad proverb then...
How can I forget the many times we played "goyo pesa" those were the times that "otonglo" could buy Salina's "odol"Here Ezekiel was a champion in "ndimo".Many are the times that we ran out of pesa and quickly "goyo pesa" metamorphosed to "goyo peke".This involved collecting bottle tops, flattering them to make them resemble "pesa"..the innocence of childhood!
I celebrate all my age mates today.
