Doc works in Mombasa and comes home rarely, mostly after six months. His wife stays at home, 700 km away from him.
The guy is blessed with ten children, nine boys and a girl. At one time it was rumored that his son, Apala resembles his best friend in the village,Akola. The rumour mills were so hot that he had to quell them by impregnating his wife when the boy was barely three years. That's the time he got the baby girl, Adulo, his copyright in every aspect.
On this particular day however, he arrived home rather sick and weary, after a one year absence from his family. His wife, Adese, welcomed him with open arms and legs, funny enough the guy never noticed the legs. That was the longest night ever for the duo. They say, hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
The following day being a Sunday was a busy day for Adese, what with church things, chamaas etc. She woke up earlier than usual, did the normal chores and hurried to "church" leaving the house by 7am. "ka wuonu no ochiewo to omiye strungi no omadhi"(when that your dad wakes up, give him strong tea),she instructed her eldest daughter.
At 2pm, she came back to the house, looking busier than ever, threw her bag on the chair and headed to the bathroom, not even greeting her husband who was lying on the sofa, after refreshing and changing, she left in a huff, "naenda chamaa" she uttered and didn't pause to listen to his reaction. All this while the guy was dumbfounded! Awestruck to talk.
By 6:45pm,Adese came back, refreshed again and took a bigger bag (nitalala wapi) and left uttering "nimeenda kesha"The man was too shocked to talk.
To cut a long story short, it emerged that the guy was not sick after all, behold his wife had chanced upon a lodging receipt he had stuck in his jacket, indicating where he had spent the night the night before!
